What is Fiber Cement Board Felt?

Fiber cement board felt is widely used in the production of fiber cement boards, calcium silicate boards, and other sheet materials. Its main functions are for forming, dewatering, and transporting the boards. Designed specifically for continuous production and wear resistance, Sun Hong fiber cement board felt offer excellent abrasion resistance, stability, and service life, ensuring stable board formation and consistent product quality.

The production method of fiber cement board mainly have two ways one is Hatscheks process method and flow on process. 

Fiber Cement Board Felt in Hatschek Process

The Hatscheks process: The hatscheks process method involves rotating several (usually 3-5) cylinder moulds arranged in front and behind to bring the material onto the surface of the fiber cement board felt, and then continuously laying it onto the felt. Once the material reaches a certain thickness, it becomes the fiber cement board.

The flow on process: It is possible to use a slurry with a high concentration, which is laid on a longer fiber cement board felt. The slurry undergoes multiple vacuum filtration, dehydration, extrusion molding, etc. to form the fiber cement board.

The Structure of Sun Hong Fiber Cement Board Felt

Fiber cement board felt is composed of base wire layer and batt fiber layer. The base wire layer generally accounts for 30% -50% of the weight of the finished felt. For the base wire layer, the warp wire is made of nylon filament yarn, the weft wire is made of monofilament. The batt fiber layer is made by combing nylon short fibers into a mesh, and then repeatedly piercing it with a triangular needle of a needle punching machine to firmly bond the batt fiber layer and the base wire layer together. It not only protects the base wire layer but also increases the water filtration effect.

Main Features of Fiber Cement Board Felt

  • Good dehydration: Due to the loose base fabric of the fiber cement board felt, the batt fiber layer is vertically penetrated into the base wire layer, which is conducive to vertical dehydration.
  • Long service life: Due to the use of nylon fiber in the fiber cement board felt. Nylon fiber has much higher strength and wear resistance than other fibers, mainly due to its good wear resistance, long service life, reduced downtime for carpet replacement, and lower production costs.
  • Low compressibility: Due to the fact that the base wire layer is composed of thicker nylon monofilaments and is needled with fibers of different thicknesses and layers, the structure is tough and pressure resistant, able to withstand high pressure, and not easily compressed or damaged.
  • Good dimensional stability: Due to the use of high-strength, low elongation nylon filament in the warp and weft of the base wire layer, it has good stiffness and flatness, maintaining stability during operation and reducing longitudinal elongation and transverse shrinkage.
  • High strength: Due to the fact that the fiber cement board felt is entirely made of nylon fiber, the warp and weft lines are relatively thick, and the longitudinal and transverse strength is also high, resulting in high tensile and strength.
  • Good flatness: Because the surface of this fiber cement board felt is made of thick and fine fiber layers, and has undergone heat setting treatment, the surface is fine and wear-resistant, not easy lead to felt lint and can prevent printing marks on the felt surface.
