What is The Structure of Dryer Fabric?

What is a Paper Machine Dryer Fabric?

Dryer fabric play a crucial role in the drying area of the papermaking process, and are mainly deployed in the drying area. Its core function is to tightly wrap or carry paper, especially in a wet paper web state, ensuring smooth transmission. In addition, the dryer fabric provides excellent surface smoothness for paper through its flat and fine mesh design. At the same time, it also has appropriate breathability to adapt to the water evaporation needs of different positions of the paper web. More importantly, the dryer fabric can cope with harsh conditions such as high temperature, high humidity, and extreme acid-base environment of the dryer, ensuring the stable operation of the papermaking process.

In paper production, the most commonly used material for the dryer fabric body is polyester. According to the weaving and manufacturing method of dryer fabric, polyester can be divided into round filament polyester and flat filament polyester. However, in daily use, flat polyester often exhibits better performance. This is due to its flat wire structure, which can provide a wider range of paper contact surfaces, thereby reducing the probability of dryer fabric mesh marks. Meanwhile, due to the geometric differences between flat wire and round wire, flat wire has also demonstrated superiority in controlling the accumulation of dirt and grime in adhesive materials.

In the early days, dryer fabric were usually designed with round warp and weft wires. However, with the advancement of technology, standard mesh has gradually evolved to use flat warp threads combined with round weft threads. There are also some advanced dryer fabric that completely adopt flat wire design. By comparison, we can clearly see that the application of flat wire significantly reduces the storage space for adhesive substances between them.

In addition to designing the geometric shape of the wire thread to avoid dryer fabric pollution, reducing the adhesion of adhesive substances is also an important means of anti pollution. This can be achieved by adding fluorine based substances to polyester materials, thereby reducing the surface energy of the material and making it difficult for pollutants to adhere to it. In this way, a series of problems caused by the accumulation of dirt and grime in the dryer fabric, such as adhesive black particles, insufficient drying ability, uneven moisture content on the paper machine wire table, and black spots, can be effectively controlled.

The Seam Joint Type of Dryer Fabric

Attention should be paid to the strength of dryer fabric seam joints to avoid excessive opening angles and significant bending. The seam of the dryer fabric is its weakest point of strength, so extra caution is required for threading strength and dryer fabric joining operations. At the same time, this is also the most common area where dryer fabric marks appear on paper. To avoid this problem, in addition to optimizing the selection of dryer fabric seam joints, it is also possible to try reducing the tension of the dryer fabric, minimizing the large bag angle, and shortening the path of large bending.

During production, attention should be paid to the condition of the edges to prevent wire throwing issues. The dryer fabric at different positions should be specifically matched to prevent performance degradation caused by arbitrary replacement. During the production process, the edges of the dryer fabric are frequently impacted by corrective contact palms. If the weaving quality is poor or hydrolysis occurs, it may cause the problem of edge spinning. Therefore, the condition of the dryer fabric edge should be carefully checked every time the machine is stopped. In addition, production personnel should be aware that although different dryer fabric may have similar lengths, their designs may not be the same, and in some cases, specific matches may have been made. For example, dryer fabric used in high evaporation sections often have the ability to resist hydrolysis. Unless there is a shortage of spare parts in emergency situations, it is not recommended to switch the usage position of the dryer fabric at will.
