Dryer fabric plays a key role in the drying section of paper making machines. Pay attention to the precautions when using the dryer screen to help you get longer use and produce higher-quality paper.
Take Care of The Tension of The Dryer Fabric
Dryer fabric tension refers to the force applied to the dry wire to keep it taut as it runs through the drying section. Properly adjusting the tension of the dryer mesh belt is crucial. This not only effectively prevents the fabric from drifting or slipping but also extends its service life.
The function of the dryer fabric is to maintain contact between the wet paper sheet and the drying cylinder surface.
If the tension of the dryer fabric is too low, an air gap will form between the paper sheet and the drying cylinder surface, which will cause paper defects like curled edges, wavy edges, uneven drying of the paper, and even cause the paper to detach from the dryer cylinder.
Generally, higher tension is better. However, excessive tension also increases the paper machine’s energy consumption, shortens the service life of dryer fabric, and may cause roll deflection.
While the drying cylinder is in operation, it is necessary to maintain the proper tension in the dryer fabric to ensure it effectively constrains the paper web during the drying process.
According to the formula P = 2T / D, we can see that the pressure (P) applied to the paper depends on the dryer fabric tension (T) and the outside diameter of the dryer cylinder (D). Generally speaking, the most common fabric tension is 17.5 to 26.2 daN/cm, and can reach 35.0 to 43.8daN/cm level for high-speed paper machines.
Other Factors Preventing Dryer Fabric Paper Defects
Of course, there are also other impact factors for paper defects you need to pay attention to during dryer screen use, like the selection, monitoring, and cleaning of dryer fabric.
For instance, if the paper sheet adheres too tightly to the dryer fabric, generating excessive tension within the web will lead to the paper sheet breaking. This question can be mitigated by adjusting the speed differential between the dryer cylinder groups to accommodate web shrinkage.
It is also worth noting that if the dryer fabric develops creases during operation, the corresponding sections of the paper sheet will fail to dry effectively due to poor contact with the drying cylinder.
Moreover, choosing the suitable dryer fabric is the beginning of avoiding paper diseases. Sun Hong is at the forefront of high-quality production in the dry mesh belt manufacturer, using world-class dry felt manufacturing machinery like the TEXO 12.5M Rapier Weaving Machine, 12.5M PRO-GROUP Heated Shaping Machine, etc. Sun Hong has sold our dryer mesh belts worldwide, including spiral, flat yarn, and round yarn dryer fabric for different interfaces (including spigot-and-socket joints, pin joints, pin-and-ring joints, and screw joints).
Manufactured using advanced production equipment, our dryer screen avoids paper sheet breaking and fabric marks caused by the rough seam or lint shedding, excessive accumulation of resin and oil caused by the low chemical corrosion resistance, and entire paper breaking caused by the fray and unravel of dryer fabric edging.
But high-quality dryer fabric can only delay the speed of the dryer mesh belt wearing and aging. You should also regularly clean your dryer mesh belt to remove residues from the surface of the dryer fabric, and monitor the fabric for wear and air permeability to prevent paper defects after your long time using of the dryer screen.
