Sun Hong designed a 2.5 layer forming fabric, this 2.5 layer forming fabric is a double layer composite structure, which is between the double layer and triple layer SSB forming fabric in terms of structure. Based on the double layer mesh, it is optimized to make its performance close to that of the triple layer mesh. This design offers better fiber retention and dewatering performance, and provides better support for fine fibers.

2.5 Layer Forming Fabric Structure

Adopting a precision weaving process, it is composed of three layers of independent yarns.

• The fine weft yarns on the upper layer provide a smooth and delicate mesh surface, greatly reducing mesh marks and giving the paper a smooth surface.
• The coarse weft yarns on the bottom layer form a stable base, providing excellent dimensional stability and wear resistance, ensuring high-speed and stable operation of the paper machine.
• The warp yarns run through the entire structure and interweave the upper and lower weft yarns. The gaps between the warp yarns form the main dewatering channel, and its diameter and arrangement directly determine the dewatering efficiency.

2.5 Layer Forming Fabric Dewatering Principle

After the pulp suspension is applied to the forming fabric, it is first dewatered through the fine top mesh, and the fine fibers are effectively retained on the forming fabric. Then the water is discharged through the “channel” formed by the interweaving of the warp yarns and the upper and lower weft yarns, achieving the unity of efficient dewatering and good fiber retention.
