The Importance of Paper Machine Dryer Fabric in the Dryer Section

In modern paper production lines, the dryer section is a key section that determines the quality, operational efficiency, and energy consumption level of the finished paper. As the core functional fabric of the dryer section, the dryer fabric undertakes multiple missions such as paper web stable conveying, uniform heat transfer, moisture discharge, and paper sheet shaping. It has a precise structure, stable high-temperature performance, and controllable breathability, which directly affects the flatness of paper, the uniformity of moisture in the paper web, the paper breakage rate, and the steam consumption per ton of paper. It is an “invisible bridge” connecting process stability and product quality.

Classification of Dryer Fabric

  • Round Yarn Dryer Fabric

This dryer fabric warp and weft lines are circular single wires, with a transparent structure, high breathability, low cost, and easy cleaning. It is commonly used for paper types such as packaging paper, corrugated paper, and paperboard that do not require high surface requirements. It is suitable for high humidity conditions in the early stage of drying.

  • Flat Yarn Dryer Fabric

The flat yarn dryer fabric warp adopts flat shaped single wires, with a large contact area with the paper web, a smoother mesh surface, extremely light mesh marks, and excellent drying uniformity. It is the first choice for cultural paper, tissue paper, and specialty paper, suitable for high-speed paper machines and high grade paper types.

According to weaving structure: single layer fabric, multi-layer fabric, and spiral dryer fabric

  • Single Layer Woven Dryer Fabric

with three or four heddle, mature technology and high cost-effectiveness, suitable for medium and low-speed paper machines and ordinary packaging paper, with moderate strength and lifespan.

  • Multi Layer Dryer Fabric

double-layer, three-layer, or two-and-a-half layer structure, with more reasonable latitude and longitude matching, high mesh stiffness, wear resistance and deformation resistance, stable breathability, suitable for high-speed paper machines (>1000m/min), extends replacement cycle, and improves operating efficiency.

  • Spiral Dryer Fabric

This type dryer fabric is composed of spiral rings and threading, it is approximately seamless, has high strength, is resistant to dirt and easy to repair, and has adjustable breathability. It is mainly used in the drying stage, waste paper pulp line, and high tolerance working conditions. The disadvantage is that the mesh marks are relatively obvious, which is not suitable for high-end smooth paper types.

How to Choose Suitable Paper Machine Dryer Fabric

By paper type: packaging paper/cardboard: choose round yarn or spiral dryer fabric; cultural paper or printing paper can choose flat yarn fabric; tissue paper or specialty paper can choose low mesh marks flat yarn fabric.

According to the dryer section: select a high permeability dryer fabric for the front section with high humidity to quickly remove moisture; Choose a low humidity, low breathability, and high flatness dryer fabric for the later stage to stabilize the moisture and smoothness of the paper.

According to the speed, the high-speed paper machine prioritizes multi-layer flat yarn dryer fabric to ensure dimensional stability and joint strength; Low speed paper machines can choose round yarn dryer fabric to control costs.

According to the pulp: waste pulp has many impurities and high wear, choose high wear-resistant spiral or thickened woven dryer fabric; Raw pulp and bleached pulp should be selected with anti hydrolysis and smooth surface.
