Dryer Fabrics Replacement and Installation Matters

Paper making dryer fabrics are one of the core components of the paper machine’s dryer section. With long-term high-temperature operation, the effects of pulp and chemicals, the dryer fabrics will gradually become contaminated and worn, affecting the dryer efficiency and paper quality. Therefore, regular replacement of the dryer fabrics are an important step in ensuring the stable operation of the paper machine.

Preparation for dryer fabrics replacement

• When replacing the dryer fabrics, stop the relevant dryer cylinders and cut off the power supply as required.
• Determine the location and specifications of the replacement mesh, and check the integrity of the new mesh.
• Prepare the tools for replacing the dryer fabrics (scissors, threading tools, joints, etc.)

Dryer fabrics replacement operation process

• Loosen the dryer fabrics tensioning roller to the loosest position.
• Cut the old net near the designated joint position, make a hole in the center of the end of the old net in the direction of operation, and connect the dryer fabrics traction tool (such as an arrow or rope) to the old net and the end of the new net. (be sure to confirm the running direction and front and back of the new dryer fabrics during this process)
• Loosen the new net, restore the power supply of the dryer cylinder, and start the device to make the old net drive the new net through the dryer cylinder until the end of the new net reaches the joint position.
• Cut off the power supply of the dryer cylinder again, fix the dryer fabrics at the joint position, stick the two ends of the mesh with special tape, and align the standard line of the mark.
• Align the ear holes at both ends of the dryer fabrics, use a special threading tool, pass the special seam thread from one side, reserve about 10cm of thread end, and then pass it back from the other side to complete the entire seam. Apply special glue on both sides of the seam edge.
• Initially tighten the dryer fabrics and adjust the tension according to the actual situation.

Precautions for dryer fabrics replacement

• When installing the new mesh, confirm whether the running direction and front and back are correct. (The front side usually has the mesh number)
• During the threading of the new mesh, technicians should be arranged on both sides to monitor and observe the direction of the dryer fabrics to prevent deviation and damage to the dryer fabrics, frame, and blow box due to friction.
• The ear holes on both sides of the dryer fabrics joint must be aligned, and no one should be missed.
• Apply force evenly when threading to avoid damaging the ear holes and deforming the thread ends.
• Before the final tensioning and operation, it is recommended to check the dryer fabrics again to see if there is any damage caused during the replacement process or original quality problems.
• When tensioning the dryer fabrics after replacement, pay attention to check whether the dryer fabrics alarm is in normal condition.
• After the replacement is completed, check the interior of the dry mesh and the accessory area to confirm that there are no tools or other items left.
